I called them at 2 30 this morning. Poor Peter, it CAN'T be right for a baby to shriek like that. It has to be something they can fix. He slept two hours last night. Now he is sleeping propped up on an angle on Daddy. He nursed for hours and hours and hours yesterday and last night and wailed if I took him off after he fell asleep. I am praying he has GERD because then at least he can get medicine. He has a hungry cry, tired cry and a dirty diaper/angry cry. The other is different it is just a shriek of pain. If they try and tell me he is perfectly healthy again I am gonna get a second opinion. Because there is NO WAY this is normal.

i felt the same way as you, i hoped it was reflux (otherwise known as gerd) with louise because i knew there was medication for that and the prospect of colic made me want to crawl in a hole and die. it took a few days for her to get 100% back to normal but the zantac REALLY helped. we also switched her to a formula for reflux, i know you're breastfeeding, but if peter does have reflux and you supplement at all with formula, use one of the "for frequent spit-ups" formulas (we use enfamil a.r.). when he sleeps put him in a swing, bouncy chair or just put some sort of wedge under him in his crib so he's elevated, like this one...

I am very interested in what they say as our willow does the same kind of shrieking....not all day but for a few hours almost daily and the only thing that makes her stop is a bottle....and that can't be good to eat and eat and eat....believe she gets plenty of formula. so eager to see if they have answers for you. wishing you some peace and rest....and a little time for you.

Well, we are going to try elevating him, and having him sleep on an angle for a week. If that doesn't work by next week we are going to try two weeks of zantac. If that doesn't work, then it's colic. She said it looks like textbook colic but that some babies can have colic AND GERD. God help us.
Sorry to hear this. You would think that all the shrieking would wear him out for several hours.....praying for reflux and not colic! (Not so sure I could wait a week of propping up!.....You have to be exhausted!)
my doctor said the same thing about possibly having a combination of colic and gerd but as soon as we started treating for the gerd things got better. try the zantac, it might change your life and make peter feel better.
